The Board of Trustees and Advisors of HEAL include:

  • Professor A. K. Azad Khan, legendary health systems champion, honorary fellow of University College London, and a member of International Diabetics Federation, is President of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh and has been the prime mover behind NCD programs in Bangladesh.
  • Mr. Mohammad Ali, as Former Health Secretary of Bangladesh, was responsible for formulation, approval, and management of GoB’s Health and Population Sector Program (HPSP), the first important sector wide reform program under the GOB, and also served as Chairman of Sonali Bank and Janata Bank.
  • Dr. Mizanur Rahman Shelley, prominent social scientist, thinker, litterateur, is Chairman of Centre for Development Research, Bangladesh, and Overseas Director of American Institute of Bangladesh Studies, also served as Director at GoB’s Department of Social Welfare.
  • Asif Mahmood, serial ICT entrepreneur and Chairman of bdnews24.com, Bangladesh’s first online newspaper, is also the owner of ADN Telecom Ltd. and InGen Technologies Ltd.
  • Abu Saeed Khan, Senior Policy Fellow at LIRNE asia, working to persuade construction of terrestrial optical fiber link alongside transcontinental “Asian Highway”, also served as Secretary General at Association of Mobile Telecom Operators in Bangladesh (AMTOB) as well as Strategy Analyst at Ericsson KL.
  • Toufique Imrose Khalidi, renowned journalist and former BBC broadcaster, who as Managing Director and Chief Editor of bdnews24.com headed a new-look team of experienced, talented, tech-savvy, multi-tasking, high-energy staff from across the profession.
  • Eng. Kabir Yaqub, Director at Pubali Bank that has spearheaded philanthropic healthcare initiatives via Ahsania Mission Cancer Hospital, ENT Foundation Hospital, Sylhet Heart Foundation, Diabetic Association of Bangladesh, and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.
  • Samir Zaman, Health Economist based in Boston, Massachusetts, with more than 40 years of experience implementing global healthcare projects in collaboration with donor agencies.
  • Kazi N. Islam, Managing Director at Toroon Ltd., also served as CEO of Grameen phone IT and Grameen Solutions Ltd.
  • Eng. Tanvir Raquib, as founder CEO and Trustee of A K Khan Healthcare Trust, launched the Nursing Bridge Program to train existing registered nurses of Bangladesh, the cervical cancer screening and treatment program in the slums of Dhaka, and published an educational magazine on Nursing, also served as Program Manager of Grameen Healthcare Trust and Founder of Medipro, a turn-key based medical equipment sales and service provider in Bangladesh.
  • Barrister I. U. Ahmad Asif, a graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science, is Senior Associate at Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed & Associates, and also served as the Managing Director of BGC Trust that established a 500-bed charitable hospital in Chittagong.
